Why Reiki? I will tell you why... at least for me. I was drawn to Reiki during a very low point in my life. My love had just been brutally murdered, and my boss at the time was less than empathetic to say the least. I was the Director of the Distance Education Program at a college, and she was my immediate supervisor. I was at work when I received this horrifying news; needless to say I was crying when I told her what happened and that I needed to leave. Her response was "go get some water, and get yourself together..." Water? Get myself together... Yeah, okay. I left.
The funeral arrangements took some time due to the severity of the wounds to his face and head, so the service was pushed back a few more days. When I called my supervisor to tell her this, she sighed and huffed, and then said she would have to get someone else to take the meeting notes, since I wouldn't be coming in. She was annoyed, and I was grieving. All I could think was, my love had just lost his life at such a young age, and I was reminded that tomorrow is never promised, so why be miserable... even for one day?!
When I returned to work, I entered the building and just to the right of the entrance sat my desk. She had placed it in the hallway when I was hired there, telling me she calls it a "L-Office" = Lobby + Office. Not funny, mainly because with this being a college, we all know just how loud and obnoxious lobbies and hallways can be! Students would sit at my desk, mess with my supplies, touch my computer, go in my desk drawers, and there was nothing I could do about it. When I would mention it to her she would just cackle. I always got the feeling that she was angry that I got the position, as if she had someone else in mind, but the President and VP both chose me. So she did her best to sabotage me, by deleting the contracts and data that I was responsible for, amongst other things. I did report her to HR, which escalated to the VP, but nothing was done about it.
I said all of this to say, on that day I returned, I walked in and the kids who always sat at the table across from my desk were there in their usual spots, and they shook their heads saying that my supervisor was in a really bad mood and I better stay out of her way. That was it! I'd had enough, so I placed the laptop they had assigned me on the desk, turned on my heels and exited stage left. I headed for the most healing place I knew of... The Beach!
After spending a few days with friends, because I really needed the love and support, I joined a Meet-Up group called OM Reiki + Metaphysical Studies. I was always intrigued by Metaphysics, and my curiosity led me to one of their meetings. I met two very fascinating women there, one who was a Reiki Master that had healed herself of cancer, and the other who was studying under her. She shared her powerful story with us, and I immediately wanted to know more about Reiki. I was still an omnivore at the time, but fast food, processed food, and meat had put me in a bad position physically. My health was failing and my stomach was punishing me something fierce.
I researched Reiki and found a Master to learn from right away. This newfound sense of purpose was wonderful for me because I always loved helping people, and as it turns out, I had done Reiki intuitively on a friend when I was in college. The laying on of hands is an ancient tradition in many cultures because of the healing energy that is naturally emitted from our palms. Becoming attuned to Reiki clears your channels so that the energy can flow more freely through you as a conduit and into the recipient.
Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is administered by "laying on hands" and is based on the idea that an unseen "life force energy" flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. If one's "life force energy" is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy.
A treatment feels like a wonderful glowing radiance that flows through and around you. Reiki treats the whole person including body, emotions, mind and spirit creating many beneficial effects that include relaxation and feelings of peace, security and wellbeing. Many have reported miraculous results.
Reiki is a simple, natural and safe method of spiritual healing and self-improvement that everyone can use. It has been effective in helping virtually every known illness and malady and always creates a beneficial effect. It also works in conjunction with all other medical or therapeutic techniques to relieve side effects and promote recovery.
Reiki worked wonders for me, so I opened my first practice and began taking on new clients. During that time, I also became a life coach in order to help others to achieve their goals, heal and balance their mind, body and spirit. I love working with people who are on a mission to reach their highest self! If you would like to learn more CLICK HERE or schedule a free consultation: firstname.lastname@example.org
